Wanks! Here’s my deal!
We have a new bored that’s getting it done. We got a new website (Thanks, C-Lust), new RAs – one of whom has completely gone wild (ok, both), a new trailmeister who posts his gps trails so you can see where you were and/or what you missed - and another trailmeister who takes photos on trail (thanks Cums Solo and LaysHer, respectively).
And because we have an influx of newbie hashers like yours truly, our bored has posted a new guide to haring on h3sob.com so that the joy of setting trail equals the joy of running it.
Our trails are already pretty good; if you can get forty people out in a predicted monsoon like we did yesterday, that tells you that people expect to have fun. And yesterday was a classic, thanks to Honor and her helper Pic. But haring takes a lot of planning, and not everybody studies the Zulu guide and follows the basics when they hare. Cums Solo put together a guide that is awesome, and I’m relying on it in scouting and putting together my next trail. If you’re new and don’t know how it’s done, or if you’ve never laid trail and want to know how, this is it. If you want to know what to expect from an SoB trail, this should tell you as well. Haring is fun, and if you’ve never done it, following this will make it fun and easy, and make you a star.
As for me, my job is shitty write-ups. So I’m bringing back our shitty blog. And I’m going back through the Yahoo group to put together an archive of Pic’s ramblings as well. So now, not only am I polluting the Yahoo group, I’m polluting a blog! And I want your info about trail as well so I can post that! I’m also working on a video clip from each trail, but I’m not quite there yet!
So, thanks to all wanks from our group that have been doing all the little things - and all the big things, too – that keep making our group better and better. This haring guide is a huge step in the right direction. Now I’m gonna print out the check list and have myself a beer!
On-on, SpreadE
